Apple is reportedly developing a proprietary AI-powered “answer engine” that could rival ChatGPT, according to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman.
A newly formed internal team, known as Answers, Knowledge, and Information, is said to be working on a tool capable of generating responses to user queries using information from across the internet. This tool could either debut as a standalone app or be deeply integrated into Siri, Safari, and other Apple services.
Apple is also actively hiring engineers with expertise in search algorithms and engine development, signalling a major push into AI-powered search capabilities.
Although Siri recently gained integration with ChatGPT, Apple’s broader plans for a more intelligent and personalized AI assistant have faced multiple delays. Additionally, the company may need to rethink its long-standing search partnership with Google following the tech giant’s recent antitrust setback.
