Rewritten News:
ChatGPT’s mobile app is pulling far ahead of the competition, generating over $2 billion in global consumer spending since its launch in May 2023, according to new data from app intelligence provider Appfigures.

That figure is roughly 30 times greater than the combined lifetime spending of rival AI apps Claude, Copilot, and Grok.

So far in 2025, ChatGPT’s iOS and Android apps have brought in $1.35 billion, a 673% increase from the $174 million generated during the same January–July period in 2024. On average, the app now earns nearly $193 million per month, compared to $25 million a year ago.

The closest competitor, xAI’s Grok, has pulled in just $25.6 million year-to-date, about 1.9% of ChatGPT’s revenue. Grok only launched stand-alone iOS and Android apps in early 2025, months after initially debuting inside the X platform.

In terms of spending per download, ChatGPT also leads the field with a global average of $2.91 per install. In the U.S., that number jumps to $10 per download, making the country its largest market with 38% of total revenue. Germany follows at 5.3%.

The app’s adoption continues to soar. ChatGPT has now been installed approximately 690 million times worldwide, dwarfing Grok’s 39.5 million installs. India leads in lifetime downloads at 13.7%, while the U.S. accounts for 10.3%.

With average monthly downloads hitting 45 million in 2025, nearly triple last year’s pace, ChatGPT’s dominance in mobile AI looks increasingly unchallenged.
