Nvidia is reportedly developing a new AI chip for China, codenamed B30A, that’s half as powerful as its flagship B300 Blackwell GPU, according to Reuters. The chip would outpace the H20, currently Nvidia’s strongest China-legal model, while keeping a single-die design instead of the B300’s dual-die build.

The B30A would still feature fast data transmission, NVLink support, and high-bandwidth memory, making it a step up from existing export-approved chips. Nvidia confirmed it regularly evaluates products but stressed that all offerings require government approval.

The move comes as the Trump administration has eased restrictions on AI chip exports to China, though approval of the B30A is not guaranteed. With China still a crucial growth market, Nvidia faces a balancing act between U.S. policy limits and competition from domestic rivals like Huawei.
