TikTok is rolling out Campus Verification, a feature that lets college students add their school to their profile, confirm enrollment with an academic email, and browse a list of classmates by graduation year. Verified students will see their school name and grad year displayed on their profile.

The feature, powered by a partnership with UNiDAYS, covers more than 6,000 universities worldwide. TikTok says the goal is to strengthen real-world campus connections, a nod to Facebook’s original 2004 mission at Harvard.

While optional, the update raises privacy concerns, as it could make student profiles easier to track. Instagram had tested a similar school-connection feature last year, but it has yet to launch.
