Silicon Valley heavyweights are pouring millions into politics to shape the future of artificial intelligence.

Andreessen Horowitz and OpenAI president Greg Brockman are among the tech veterans funding more than $100 million into a new network of political action committees (PACs) that will campaign for AI-friendly policies in next year’s midterm elections, according to The Wall Street Journal.

The super-PAC network, called “Leading the Future,” plans to use donations and digital ads to support candidates who favor looser AI regulations, and oppose those who don’t.

The initiative follows an earlier industry push to block state-level AI laws with a proposed 10-year moratorium on states’ rights to regulate AI. That effort failed, but leaders say a fragmented “patchwork of regulations” could slow innovation and hand an edge to China in the AI race.
