Mark Zuckerberg’s passion for mixed martial arts, MMA, extends beyond his personal fitness routine. According to Nick Clegg’s upcoming book, the Meta founder once encouraged senior executives to join him in MMA workout sessions.

Clegg, Meta’s former president of global affairs, recalled the unusual team-building exercise, which took place at a management offsite. He shared that he and his deputy at the time, Joel Kaplan, ended up sparring, with Kaplan executing a mount that Clegg described as “too close for comfort.” Kaplan has since taken over Clegg’s role after his departure earlier this year.

Fast Company, in its review of Clegg’s book, dismissed much of the writing as “thin prose,” though it admitted anecdotes like this one stand out. Still, the idea of Meta’s top executives wrestling on the mat in a corporate setting raises eyebrows.
