Google is making video editing smoother in Drive by adding a direct shortcut to its AI-powered tool, Vids. Starting Friday, Workspace users will see a new “Open” button while previewing videos in Drive, allowing them to launch files straight into Videos for editing.

Once opened, Vids lets users trim clips, add music, insert text, and more. The integration, enabled by default, highlights Google’s push to tie Vids more closely with Workspace apps.

Vids, introduced last year, also supports generating videos from text prompts, creating scripts, rearranging clips, and adding transitions. The update follows Google’s rollout of Gemini-powered AI video summarization in Drive earlier this year.
