Google has rolled out new customization options for NotebookLM’s Audio Overviews, the AI-generated podcasts that summarize and discuss user documents.
Users can now select from four tones: Deep Dive (in-depth exploration), Brief (short summaries), Critique (feedback and review), and Debate (contrasting perspectives). Each format can also be adjusted in length.

Alongside the new tones, Google is adding more voice options for AI hosts, addressing one of the most requested features from users.
The update follows recent expansions to NotebookLM, including Video Overviews for turning notes, PDFs, and images into visual presentations, and a growing library of featured notebooks from authors, researchers, and nonprofits.
Google says the new Audio Overview formats are available globally this week across all supported languages.
