Google is bringing its Veo 3 video-generation model to Google Photos, allowing U.S. users to turn still images into short video clips directly from the app’s Create tab.

The feature builds on Google Photos’ existing “Photo to video” tool, previously powered by Veo 2, and promises higher-quality output. With Veo 3, users can generate four-second clips from their photos. The feature will be free with limited use, while AI Pro and Ultra subscribers get additional generations.

Unlike in the Gemini app, where Veo 3 debuted in July with watermarked outputs, Google Photos’ integration is aimed at casual use, animating memories, bringing old photos to life, and sharing clips. Audio isn’t supported yet.

The Create hub in Google Photos also houses other AI-powered tools, including photo remixes, collages, GIFs, cinematic 3D photos, and montages.
