JetBlue is teaming up with Amazon’s Project Kuiper to offer free in-flight internet starting in 2027, making it the first airline to adopt the satellite network.

Kuiper terminals aboard JetBlue aircraft will support download speeds up to 1Gbps, outpacing SpaceX Starlink’s 250 Mbps cap. However, Amazon’s constellation will be far smaller, 3,226 satellites compared with SpaceX’s 8,000+ in orbit.

The deal marks a milestone for Kuiper, which began launches in April and faces a mid-2026 FCC deadline to deploy half its fleet. Amazon also inked an agreement earlier this year to integrate Kuiper connectivity into Airbus planes.

For JetBlue, the partnership differentiates it from rivals tapping Starlink for in-flight Wi-Fi. For Amazon, it’s a chance to prove Kuiper can scale beyond its original focus on unserved and underserved regions.
