Louisiana Attorney General Liz Murrill has filed a lawsuit against Roblox, claiming the gaming platform has failed to put adequate safety controls in place, creating what she described as “the perfect place for pedophiles.”
Filed on Thursday, the lawsuit alleges that Roblox has facilitated the spread of child sexual abuse material and enabled the sexual exploitation of Louisiana’s children. It further accuses the platform of intentionally neglecting safety measures and failing to warn parents about risks.
Roblox, which launched in 2006 and now has over 82 million daily users, is popular with children, 20% of users are under the age of 8, and another 20% fall between 9 and 12.
“Roblox is overrun with harmful content and child predators because it prioritizes user growth, revenue, and profits over child safety,” Murrill said. “Every parent should be aware of the clear and present danger posed to their children.”

The lawsuit cites explicit content on the platform, including games like Escape to Epstein Island and Public Bathroom Simulator Vibe. It also highlights how adults can disguise themselves as children and how minors can bypass age restrictions to access mature content.
In response, a Roblox spokesperson emphasized the company’s investment in advanced moderation and safety technology, stating that protecting its community remains a top priority. The company recently introduced measures such as restricting direct messaging for users under 13, though the lawsuit claims these efforts came too late and remain insufficient.
Louisiana is seeking permanent injunctive relief to prevent Roblox from misrepresenting its safety standards and violating the state’s Unfair Trade Practices Act.
